Interview questions

What is your role in the film and what is your expected to do in the film?
I will be one of the agents that have been chosen to hunt down the villain who is Ghalib. Both I and Ryan will be part of a spy agency that is made to save the world when it is at risk. So when Ghalib is released into everyday life and he suffers from PTS and starts destroying everything then it is up to me and Ryan to save the world and stop Ghalib.

What is your previous experience in acting?
I have no experience in acting; I did not take drama at GCSE so unlike Ghalib I do not have that to help me. However I have been involved in acting throughout this coursework acting in the preliminary task so do have some practise.

Why is your role challenging and what is good about your role?
My role is challenging as it I something that I have not done before and something that will take a bit of practise. To be able to act as though I am part of a really important spy agency will be difficult but I do think that I will be able to pull it off. The good thing about my role is that I also have Ryan to work with so he could help me out sometimes to get me into role.

Who is your favourite actor?
My favourite actor is Johnny Depp, this is because he is a really flexible actor and I like this about actors. All of his roles are so different yet he manages to play them so perfectly and this shows very well about how much of a good actor he is.

Who is your favourite antagonist?

My favourite antagonist by far has got to be the late Heath Ledger who famously played the role of the Joker in The Dark Knight. He plays his role very well and very effectively. The way he plays a villain actually gets the audience scared of him this is how effective he was.

Soundtrack Research

Soundtrack Research

Background Music- In our film we will try and put in some background music within the scene. This is what most the spy/agent films have, it is used and is very effective within the film. background music is used to add emotion and rhythm to a film. Usually not meant to be noticeable, it often provides a tone or an emotional attitude towards the story or the characters within the film. In addition background music foreshadows a change in mood. For example dissonant music may be used in film to indicate an approaching(but not yet visible) menace or disaster. This type of music is non dietetic music this is because it is music that the characters can not hear. The clip below is from the film jaws, this film is most famous for its well known soundtrack that it has. The film manages to cause a large amount of tension and suspense when this soundtrack is played, this is because the audience knows that something is going to happen and it is not going to be good.

Sound Effects- There are many different sound effects that can be used to create a large feeling of suspense.Synchronous sounds contribute to the realism of film and also help to create a particular atmosphere. For example, the “click” of a door being opened may simply serve to convince the audience that the image portrayed is real, and the audience-may only subconsciously note the expected sound. However, if the “click” of an opening door is part of an ominous action such as a burglary, the sound mixer may call attention to the “click” with an increase in volume; this helps to engage the audience in a moment of suspense.

Costume and Location research

The location we chose was leatherhead train station  because its a good destination to set our film and it goes well with what we are doing. The costume we are wearing is all black  jacket and grey hoodie and the person who is getting chased through the scenes is wearing his own clothes.  I think with a football hoolagon film this is a great destination as they are all getting the train to a football game. And its a great scene because you would expect that when you go to a football game. Image result for train station

How to Become a Film Director - 180 Degree Rule

180 degree rule in filming

The 180 degree rule meaning in media is when two characters  in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If you don't follow the 180 degree rule , or break it intentionally, it disrupts the scene disorients the audience.

Shot reverse shot

Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character (often off-screen), and then the other character is shown looking back at the first characters. since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions the viewer assumes they are looking at each other.

The 30 degree rule
The 30 degree rule is a basic film editing guideline that states the camera should move at least 30 degrees  between shots of the same subject occurring in succession.

Match on action
Match on action is when film editing and video editing cuts from one shot to another , A common example is a man walking up to a door and reaching for the knob. Just as his hand touches the knob the scene cuts to a shot of the door opening from the other side

Fast and furious 6 analysis

Fast and furious is an action adventure film which stars Dwayne Johnson and Paul walker  it is a film about one team who goes on adventures together around the world and they are always on missions and they are an unbeatable team and they are are on a mission to fight a military team who blew a building up and they have to go and beat them.

The are guns used and a lot of violence and fighting in the film which is typical for an action adventure film and they try and fight everyone and win the battles and they never want to loose which is also typical from an action adventure film.

The is a lot off fighting between the two teams and fast expensive  cars in the film which are all racing each other which is typical for an action film the is also tanks which shoot out people which is very dangerous.

The cars where racing in a track and they are not supposed to be racing there because it is illegal and they after the races as soon as they finish the race the police come and chase them and they get in trouble and the person from the other team called the police because they lost the race which is typical because they lost and and they got away with it because they went just before they came because they where expecting it which is ironic and typical for an action film to get in trouble with the police.

The music in the background is very fast and upbeat and intense and it seems like they are on a mission and they a really against the time and you could really feel that from an audience member that they have to be efficient and get the job done quickly before is to late.

The is also a love interest in the film because his wife dosent want him to leave and the was some sexual activity involved which is typical for an action film. The was also a lot of teenage girls when the expensive cars where racing which is another convention.
Taken

Taken is an action film starring liam neeson it is a film about him and he is a dad in the film and he is the hero and his daughter is in a vacation with her friend in Paris and while he calls his daughter when she is in the hotel the is a break in and they come and kidnap her friend Amanda and he tells her on the phone and that is another typical convention to happen when she gets a phone call there is a break in in the other room and then they take her and kidnap her and he is on a adventure to go to Paris and find the kidnappers and go and rescue his daughter and her friend from any danger and he talks on the phone to them and they say you have 48 hours to find them otherwise she and her friend is dead.  The music in the background is very fast and intense and upbeat and it goes with the action shown the violence , kidnapping and  shooting shown and it very all up for grabs in terms of who is going to win the battle.

Home alone

Home alone is a comedy adventure film about a kid who is left alone all by his self in a massive house by himself because his family forget to take him with them accidentally which is typical for an adventure film. He is then under threat by these two robbers who try and steal his house and break in and he is doing everything in his power to prevent that from happening so he comes up with tricks to stop them from breaking in the house and it turns into a comedy film which makes the audience laugh because he pulls pranks on them which hurts them and they dont expect it from a young little kid so they underestimate his value everyone in his family didn't really like him that is why he was left in a room locked upstairs and they forget to take him and they thought he was useless almost and not much value to the family he was always the outsider in the family which is another typical convention because the audience did not expect him to pull all these pranks and cause these problems to them. The music in the background from the beginning is quiet low beat and they talk about how he has never been at home himself and cant cause any trouble and then as soon as it gets to him with the plan in his hand to stop the robbers in breaking in the music gets intenser and louder which is typical for an adventure film.

Cheaper by the dozen 2

Cheaper by the dozen is a comedy film about a couple who are middle age who have 12 kids in their family and they are always coming up with jokes and pranks to each other to try and make them laugh and the audience so it is a typical comedy film in the way it is set.  They are also a very competitive family and so is the father and they try and compete with other families and make them enemies and try and win all the time against them in competitions which is also typical for a comedy film.  The is also a love interest in the film which is another convention between the two families they are young teenage couple from each other who love each other and there families are competing with each other.  It is a funny film with pranks and jokes made all the time between the two families and they just want the best for their kids. Another convention is the dad from one family is jealous about the other dad from another family because he has an old house in a standard house and the other dad is rich and a middle age man with a rich and expensive house with his student well educated and he also has a young pretty good looking wife which is typical from a comedy film.

Jeepers  creepers opening scene analysis

Jeepers creepers in a film about young teenagers being irresponsible young adults. The two of them are trying to get away from the lorry which is chasing them.  And the lorry is getting faster and faster towards them and they are trying to get away from them as fast as they can.

A good camera shot which was effective was a close up on the two of them driving the car you can tell from their facial expression they are really scared and they are panicking and worried and they dont know why they are getting chased.

The is cross cutting and editing used  between the two teenagers getting chased and the zombies which are chasing them.

The is mise en scene they are in a dark scary woods while they are getting chased and it is almost like a dead end on a countryside.

The phone dosent work which is also another typical thing you would expect from a horror film when you are in trouble and you need it the most and you have the fear of death and it was really typical the phone was not going to work.

The sound is non dietetic they cant hear it but the audience can and it is very intense music as the lorry is coming toward s them and it is also very upbeat and intense which is very typical for an horror film.

50 first dates trailer analysis

Fifty first dates is a romantic film with different general stereotypes that is usually found in a romantic comedy film. The film is about a girl who falls in love with a man but she cant ever remember that she was in a relationship with him because she has a bad memory because she had a crash and cant remember anything  and he is doing everything he can to make her remember him and everyday they fall in love with each other again and he has to start taking pictures and videos with them together every time they go out so that she can remember she is with him. He is an old man trying to grab a young single girl so he is trying his best to impress her. The audience want them to live together and live happily ever after in these difficult circumstances but they are being clever to always trying to have excuses ever time time they fall in love with each other. we also have a funny friend in the background to try and make things awkward and hard for the main two attraction characters to get together which is also very typical for a romantic comedy film. The camera shots in this film is medium shots of the main couple together falling in love with each other.

Ghalib and luke's What are you doing here?

In my short film film what are you doing here? I have a few strengths and weakness, the strengths that i have are the camera shots for example the close ups that clearly show your facial expressions and how you feel at the time. one of the main strength is the editing and you can clearly show that the scenes cross cut and interchange and got to the other scene. A weakness is that we could of added music to make it more entertain and interesting for the audience and so it can brighten it up a bit more  and another weakness is that we could of added more camera shots for example long shots and medium shots to varies the camera shots and make it more effective and decisive.

Notting Hill

In the trailer notting hill is a romantic film  it is about a girl who is rich and famous and well of and she is from bevely hills and she falls in love with the least important shopper in a library in notting hill so it turns into a film about love and she really fancies him and she meets him when she comes in and gets a book from a library to read, so the love interest is the girl. The film has many different general stereotypes for example love, laughter and caring and sharing . They are couple are most unlucky to be together because the girl is so successful and the boy is so unsuccessful and it is just a rare combination between the two. The two are sharing jokes and being lovely to each other which is a typical moment in a romantic film.

Bridget Jones diary analysis

Bridget Jones is a romantic film you can tell that from the opening scene when within the first minutes she falls in love and she has an interment relationship with him the camera shots on him where close ups and it shows how much they are really in love with each other but the guy she should be in love with is always in the background watching her he is almost like a shadow. The audience are almost waiting for them two to finally meet and fall in love so they are all almost waiting for that happily ever after ending between the two. The film is very stereotypical movie and it has the things that you would expect from a romantic film.  The target audience for this film is younger women and teenage women who would enjoy this romantic film as it is about a girl growing up into a women in her life and finally finding her true man and love.

Romantic genre conventions

Mad max fury road analysis

The genre indicates from the opening scene from Mad max that it  is an action movie and it has many different conventions one example of convention used in the movie is car chasing in expensive cars going really fast and they are trying to get away from each other. the camera shot is a high angle shot so that you can see all the cars chasing each other and that is a really powerful shot because you can clearly feel as an audience that is an action film and it stands out.  another convention is aliens and ghost fighting each other to win the battle. there is no sound in the background when the cars are chasing each other then when the guy is getting chased the sound comes in and the music intensity keeps increasing so it turn into dietetic music because the audience can hear it but they cant. The questions we left asking is who are the aliens and zombies and why they where trying to kill each other.

.
The dark night analysis
The genre  indicates from the opening scene in the dark night that it is an action film, from the opening minutes the was already shooting involved from the joker who kills two people and from then you could already tell that it was an action film , his crew where holding weapons and guns and that medium shot of all 3 of them together in my opinion was a really powerful shot because it tells the audience that is jammed pack with all the things that you would expect from an action film.

Secondly The music in the background was very upbeat which created tension between the characters and the audience can feel more involved as they didn't no what was going to happen next and you can hear the drum in the background increasing and so did the intensity to and it all ended in a dramatic ending when the joker killed everyone and took the money and drove of with the bus.

Thirdly Mise en scene was used in the opening few minutes with the characters masks and you could tell that it would be a scary movie and it kind of set the theme of the rest of the film.

Finally the setting of it was in a main road with a lot of shops around and it looked like a busy area and it was a great setting i thought as an audience member because it was so big the town and you dont know what was going to happen next.

The Mechanic 2011 (Swimming Pool murder scene) Ft. Jason Staatham

Analysis of mechanic film
In the first minutes of mechanic action film you can see so many types of conventions that you would find in an action film. for example the man in the swimming pool went into the pool shortly after he got murdered straight away and he died and the we blood everywhere from an audience point of view you could already tell that the would be a lot of death in this film. the was bodyguards surrounding him and he still died as the murderer was to smart for him and they only saw it after the women screamed when she was the blood.
the was also a lot of money involved which is also traditionally you would represent from an action film and it was in a black bag and you represent money in an action film. the was also chasing involved when Jason ran and jumped of the building to get away from any trouble onto the boat. the music in the background we could hear had an high intensity and as an audience member you could tell that it was an action film.

Scream (1996) - Opening (1/3)

Scream Opening Scene analysed

Screams is a film about a young girl who is harassed by a stalker who keeps calling her on a phone and he is watching her the whole time and she gets really worried by it and then she realised that she is being watched by him and he was stalking her the whole time and he was on the phone to her and he knew every step she was taking and she was getting  paranoid by her. she kept getting phone calls by her and she kept picking it up and flirting in a way with him but she didn't realised she was getting watched until later on. the is also high pitch screaming in the background which tells you and the audience she is panicking and she was trying to lock all the doors as soon as she can so she can stay way from danger. the first camera shot when she is walking past and you can see someone the near the coat hooks you can see a someone as a reflection in the background that was a medium shot which kind of set the film up nicely and how it was going to end you could almost tell just from that shot because it was really powerful, eye catching and strong.

Ride Along 2 Opening Scene Analysis

RIDE ALONG 2 OPENING SCENE ANALYSIS

Horror Target Audience Profile

Horror target audience profile

Target audience is young people slightly more than female aged between 15 and 19. teenagers who finally fell in love and just about to go to the university together and take the next important step in their life as adults. this shows they are both young and they are both turning into a man and women and they are becoming more mature as adults and they are embracing it.  they are also taking a huge step in towards the end of their education and they know after this they would go into the world of work so they are making the most of the free time. An example of this is jeepers creepers and the is a boy and girl are driving in the car and they get chased and followed by a truck.
Convention of a horror film

one convention of a horror film is creepy noises an example of that is creaky doors a second convention is a haunted house and an example of that is a haunted house which is very scary house and it grabs the audience attentions and makes them more involved in the film. A third convention is a ghost which scares the audience and it takes them of their seat and it is very unexpected for them.  a setting is another convention that can be set on a farm, isolated places, dark woods and creepy settings so it can be set in may different locations. jump scares is another convention this is pretty much someone coming out of nowhere and it is an unexpected for the audience. music is another convention it is very scary for some people and the intensity of the music increases and decreases thought the film. zombies is another convention they come out the blew in most films when you dont expect it and try and scare you and the audience the audience can see the zombies in the film but they cant see a ghost so that is the different between the two. possessed kids is another convention they are normally evil minded and very vicious in most horror films and the audience really wouldn't like them and they would think they are trouble and no good and they are normally on the bad sad of the audiences point of view. teenagers are shown they are are very irresponsible in most horror films the gives the audience members a bad reputation about them and they think they are trouble and they are always up to something.

Research and Planning Targets

Make sure you add all the evidence of your genre projects so far - and consider adding to your posts when you learn new approaches and terminology in your G322 classes.  Push yourself and show your enthusiasm for film even more!

It is the opening scene of rush hour starring Jackie Chan and Chris tucker in rush hour. The film is about two main characters Chris tucker and Jackie Chan and Chris tucker is a police officer and he is on a mission and he is trying to find the villain who knows some details about the missing girl and he also has something very valuable and he needs to get that of a friend of his which he knows so he follows him to the petrol station and he goes up to him to get the dangerous machinery of him but he wouldn't give it over and at the end the is car chasing and he chases him and at the end gets what he wants and he tells his friend the he is a police officer and he didn't know that before he just told him.  You can tell it is an action film from the beginning from all the car chasing and gun shooting involved, and violence from the opening scene and you can tell that he is on a mission and he thinks he is very important.  the music in the background when the villain has a gun to the cop head is very low and you can tell something big was just about to happen and after the gun shooting you can tell the intensity of the music increases and it perfectly sets it up into the next scene which is a car scene and the music intensity rapidly increases.

Convection of an action film

one example of a car chase used in a action film is when the villains are driving as fast as they could away from the heroes to get away with what they have done. explosions is another convention they are used to blow up buildings and cars in films they happen out of nowhere so they catch the audience and they take them by surprise and so they dont expect it . another convention is weapons they are used to kill people and beat people up with. guns is another convention they are used to kill people. villains and heroes are always in a action film so the good people vs the bad people this is because the audience can identify who are the bad people and who is the good people . death is another convention of an action film someone always dies without fail in an action film due to all the weapons and guns used in every action film this sometimes makes the audience sad if it is someone who is good through the film and they dont deserve to die . fighting is a convention of an action film the villains and heroes fight each other to win the battle. the is always stand out cars which all the heroes usually drive to stand out and stamp the authority that they are important and big and they try and say they are here to win. money is another convention of an action film, some action films always use money because its a big thing and money buys you everything in life. finally another convention is love and friendship people who always trust each other and have each others back so a partnership or a team who always trust each other and try and win the battle.

Ride Along 2 Opening scene analysis

The genre indicates from  ride along 2 from the opening 2 minutes  that it is a action film you can tell that by all the guns involved and all the car chasing and all the violence involved and you can tell because the are hero and villains in the film and straight away as soon as you see that you can tell that it is an action film. The was also stunts in the opening scene  and special effects which really gives an action film feeling.

The questions left that we are  are asking is how is the two main characters relationship from the film and if they are close or not and if theses two cops are high up in their job and if they take their jobs seriously and always try the hardest at all times to insure that they can do their job to the best of their ability. And another question the audience are encouraged to ask if they actually like each other from the start  or if they are just stuck together from their boss as he tells them what to do.

Thirdly from the opening scene we found out that the two cops who are partners are trying to save the family from danger and you can tell that they dont entirely like and trust each other. we also can tell that there is a lot of violence in the film from the guns and car chasing we can see and that it is a very intense film and it is basically villains v hero and they mostly the main two characters have each others back.

Fourthly the music is very upbeat and at fast pace and it get quicker through the trailer and you can tell that there is a lot of action involved as the music is very intense and it pretty much tells you from an audience member that the characters are in a rush and they are very determined to do their jobs and save their family from danger.

Finally the camera shots involved are very powerful for example the close up which was at the cop one of the two main characters it showed his facial expression and how he was feeling at that current time and that close up shot really showed us as an audience member how he was feeling and it showed us what he was going through and it gave us an insight and how he felt and it almost makes you think if what if that was you in his position and what would you do and react to that.  the was also a long shot of the two main characters who are the cops together and that shot showed us the bond between the two main characters and he showed us they felt and responded to each other from a far distance.

28 Weeks Later (1/5) Movie CLIP - Every Man for Himself (2007) HD

28 weeks later analysis

A key moment from the film 28 weeks later is the opening part when the zombie walks into the room and try to possess the parents and the child. At that moment it was a close up at don it showed his facial expression clearly and how the tension growing on him he didn't  know what to do to either safe his wife or go on a runner you can tell he is so scared and you can see the fear in his eyes. He was panicking so much and he was so shocked that he was in this situation and he didn't now what to do.

Secondly Another key moment is when he don fell out the window and it is a medium shot and it shows the fear in him and you can tell he didn't want to jump out the window. You can tell that he didn't  want to jump but he had to get away from the zombies which where trying ,to take him away and he thought if he jumped out the window then they would not try and go for his wife so he was doing it to save his wife which he would thought was best for him.

Thirdly another key moment in the film is when he is on the massive green field when he is running away from the zombies on the field i thought that was a very powerful high angle shot which shows him running away from them and when he turns around he can see his wife screaming saying how have you left me and he takes one look and does not look back you can see the panic in his facial expression and he felt so terrified and worried and the camera shot really shows how much fear in him  and he is doing all that he can do to get away from the zombies.
